Welcome to the very first publication of Eco Trust Society's 'The Eco Advocate' magazine. In retrospect, The Eco Advocate was in the making since our orientation into the School of Earth and Environmental Science. This orientation at Guyana's premier tertiary educational institution was as it should be, memorable and defining.
As enthusiastic freshmen and women at University looking to make the best of our time, lectures and alumni made it clear that university can be the best and most instrumental part of our lives yet. They implored the importance of utilizing the resources available; eloquently encouraging us to do more, do better and strive as academics to paragon. This was the inspiration to push the boundaries of what we can accomplish daily. To create, develop meaningful, relevant projects and research. They managed to deftly capture our interest introducing us to Eco Trust Society, the bonding and family like Environmental Club within the School. Already passionate about the environment, we were on the path to inherit the Eco Trust society and to represent our university. Determined to succeed, we began brainstorming the challenges the society faced and how to comprehensively communicate all of our values, activities, thoughts, and ideas. The idea to start a magazine was conceived as one of these projects. The existing media was the society's bi-annual newsletter which was last published in 2013. The newsletter titled 'Eco Advocate' was brief but refreshingly beautiful. |

This was the platform we decided to build on, creating a vivid new magazine with a mélange of articles and creative pieces that illustrate our society's past year.
As with all projects, producing this publication came with its share of challenges. With several events disrupting the year, the two most egregious being the Student Revolution on campus and general election held nationally, it took a great deal of persistence and determination to see it true to fruition. To this end, the society is proud of this accomplishment. We sincerely hope that you the reader have a pleasurable experience and appreciation for the publication. Eco Trust Society |
