Eco-Trust Society's Executive Body

On the 22nd of November 2021, the Eco Trust Society marked the inauguration of its 2021-2022 Executive Body. In a groundbreaking shift, the elections were carried out virtually through Zoom and Google Forms. Ms. Hema Persaud, the recently elected president, presided over the ceremony as the executive members committed to upholding the constitution of the Eco Trust Society for the academic term of 2021-2022.
Getting to Know the Executive Members:
President - Hema Persaud: "My dedication to the environment and human well-being is evident through my extensive years of volunteerism and active involvement. This hands-on experience reflects my genuine commitment."
Vice-President - Angelique Joseph: "Being a people person, my primary interests lie in the human environment. However, I hold a deep appreciation and respect for nature. The fascination has been a constant source of intrigue for me. This dual perspective allows me to bridge the gap between human-centric interests and the profound connection we share with the natural world."
Secretary - Kenita Roberts: "I gravitated towards this field due to my fondness for travel, and the processes of sample collection and testing. These aspects not only resonate with my personal interests but also align with my passion for contributing to the understanding and preservation of the environment."
Assistant Secretary - Yasmin Fazil: "The intricate interplay between economic activities and environmental factors underscores the importance of finding balanced approaches that consider both aspects for the well-being of societies."
Treasurer - Marika Archer: "I harbor a profound passion for the environment, viewing it as our exclusive abode. Its paramount significance stems from being the sole habitat available to us. Moreover, a vital aspect of this conviction involves the recognition that we are not solitary occupants; rather, we coexist with a myriad of other species. It is imperative that we exercise prudence in utilizing the Earth's resources, ensuring a shared equilibrium that extends beyond our own needs and acknowledges the rightful place of other life forms in this intricate tapestry of existence."
Assistant Treasurer - Candace Bridgewater: "Growing up surrounded by diverse trees, fruits, flowers, and crops in the countryside has instilled in me a deep connection with nature. Beyond basics, I recognize the environment as more than just our living space - it's where we thrive and nurture life. Understanding that our survival hinges on environmental well-being, I am committed to protecting it at all costs."
Project Manager - Chris Bissessar: "Recognizing the inherent value in nature provides a grounding effect, fostering a clear headspace and a broader comprehension of the world. It's these perspectives, intricately woven with technology, society, and creativity, that propelled me to remain steadfast in upholding my core values."
Assistant Project Manager - Phillicia James: "My decision to enter this field is driven by the opportunity it provides to cultivate a well-rounded knowledge base encompassing everything from plant life and wildlife to the intricate connections with people who both shape and are shaped by these environmental elements."
Public Relations Officer - Casey Sukha: "Environmental sustainability, coupled with my authentic love and appreciation for nature, drives my interest in environmental science. This field enables a deeper understanding of our environment, facilitating efficient use of natural resources and providing insights into the impacts of environmental development. It also guides us in conserving biodiversity."
Assistant Public Relations Officer - Donella Sullivan: "My inclination towards environmental studies stems from a deep affection for the natural environment of my upbringing and a longstanding interest in wildlife documentaries. As I delve further into this field, my fascination has evolved into a broader appreciation for every facet that makes up the Earth. I see it as an opportunity to use my skills to contribute to its development. This motivates my desire to engage in activities that provide exposure to various environmental aspects, ensuring their protection and advancement."
Editor in Chief - Gomattie Nandalall: "Despite being a chemistry major, I recognize the practical relevance of our studies in environmental monitoring and enhancement. I firmly believe in the imperative of fostering an environmentally conscious planet. In pursuit of this, I intend to actively promote environmental awareness and disseminate fact-based information to society at large."
Assistant Editor in Chief - Shonella Nelson: "Being part of region seven grants me the privilege of immersing myself in the pristine forests of Guyana, where I closely observe diverse fauna species. Given my long-standing fascination with environmental topics, it's not surprising that I chose to center my studies around it."
Website Manager - Beyonce Roberts: "My authentic passion and keen interest in the environment enable me to elucidate the reasons behind our planet's changes and offer insights into collective and individual actions we can take to make a positive impact."
