The Eco-Trust Society marked a crucial milestone on September 23, 2025, by inaugurating the Executive Body for the academic year 2025-2026. The elections were held online, showing society's support of creative and modern ways to administration.
Ms. Kadia Gilkes, the newly elected president, presided over the ceremonies, with each executive member expressing their commitment to preserving the club's constitution for the academic year. This strong demonstration of devotion sets a positive tone for the team's future activities.
This forward-thinking strategy not only emphasizes the society's flexibility, but also demonstrates a progressive view on member involvement and leadership. As they begin a new academic year, this inaugural event demonstrates the society's commitment to dynamic and effective leadership, ready to tackle both the difficulties and possibilities ahead.

Meet Our Executive Members!
Kadia Gilkes – President
Kadia is ready to step into a new year of high-impact environmental work. Her vision is to establish the Eco-Trust Society as the premier force for sustainability and environmental stewardship on campus. She looks forward to the tangible results which will be achieved in the new academic year!
Anglique Leonor Forero – Vice President, 2nd year rep
Being passionate about environmental advocacy, Angelique’s aim as Vice President is to implement impactful changes that consider the thriving nature around us!
Being a Muslim, her faith encourages her to step forward in helping to promote truth and knowledge-- in this case, spreading environmental education among Guyanese youths as there is a growing need for us to foster a cultural attitude of caring deeply for how clean and sustainable the things we use and do are.
Zakiya Blair - Secretary
Zakiya is a fourth-year Environmental Science student with a deep love for nature and creativity. Outside of her studies, she enjoys dancing & art, and she believes that kindness is always a choice we can make. Honesty and virtue guide Zakiya. She is also passionate about inspiring others to live with those values.
Tabitha Roberts – Assistant Secretary
Tabitha is currently in her 3rd year pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science. She has a burning passion for marine life & the environment. Tabitha looks forward to working with the new Executive Team!
Ameera Dindayal – Treasurer
Ameera is a 3rd year Environmental Studies major and she is excited to step into the role of Treasurer, having previously served as Assistant Treasurer. She is also excited to continue promoting and assisting in the execution of environmental education and awareness. Ameera is committed to encouraging conservation practices and the sustainable use of resources. Looking forward to an impactful year!
Zafar Talukdar – Assistant Treasurer
Zafar is an 18 year old Environmental Science student with a strong passion for sustainability, conservation, and climate change solutions. His studies focus on understanding the relationship between people and the environment, with the goal of contributing to the protection and sustainable management of natural resources. He actively seeks opportunities to expand his knowledge and applies sustainable practices in everyday life.
Niara Amsterdam – Project Manager
Niara is a 4th-year Environmental Studies major with a strong passion for environmental stewardship and sustainability. She is deeply curious about the ways our world works and is committed to contributing to a more sustainable future.
Samuel Davis – Assistant Project Manager
Samuel is a 3rd year Environmental Studies student and alumni Youth Parliamentarian with a passion for sustainability and water resource management. He is especially interested in exploring practical solutions that connect environmental research with real-world challenges, with a focus on how sustainable practices can support both people and ecosystems. Samuel brings enthusiasm for learning, teamwork, and innovative thinking to every project he’s part of.
Nilaja Victorine – Assistant Project Manager
Nilaja is passionate about protecting our environment and enjoys working with others to make a positive impact. She is excited to help the EcoTrust Society grow and support its projects in any way she can!
Gayatri Singh – PRO
Gayatri is a second year Environmental Science student and the newly appointed Public Relations Officer of the Eco-Trust Society. She is passionate about promoting environmental stewardship and sustainability.
Onastace Roberts – Assistant PRO, 1st Year Rep
Onastace is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies. She is passionate about environmental education and sustainability, & is excited to help amplify the Society’s mission: promoting conservation, sustainable resource use, and waste reduction, while engaging and inspiring our community for a greener, brighter future.
Naomi Barkoye – Editor in Chief
Naomi, a 2nd year Law student, is passionate about Constitutional and Human Rights law. She sees the climate crisis as a human rights threat, especially to vulnerable groups such as SIDS, women, and children. As Editor-in-Chief, Barkoye aims to highlight pressing environmental issues and the vital link between people and the planet.
Ashley Lewis – Assistant Editor in Chief
Ashley, a 4th-year Biology student at the University of Guyana, majors in Microbiology. She is passionate about advocacy and enjoys reading, aiming to use her voice and knowledge to inspire positive change within and beyond the scientific community.
Zane Parag – Website manager, 4th year rep
Zane is a dedicated and diligent fourth year Environmental Studies student with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and lifelong learning.
Ashana Naraine – 3rd year rep
Ashana is excited to serve! She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. Ashana is passionate about raising awareness about environmental issues and finding ways to mitigate them. She looks forward to the new academic year and collaborating with others.
